APAC History




There are currently 29  Golden Key chapters in Asia Pacific. The first four chapters were established at University  of Queensland, University of Sydney, Macquarie University and RMIT University in 1993 and the most recent chapter was started at  Western Sydney University in 2016. Golden Key’s Asia-Pacific headquarters was established in Sydney in 1994.

Golden Key welcomed its 230,000th member from an Asia Pacific  chapter in 2016.*

 

In our alumni network we  have  960 Directors, 135 C Level Executives and  22 Chairman of Boards who have become members in the last ten years.

 

Golden Key has over 1000 honorary members in Australian and New Zealand (including university Vice Chancellors and senior leaders and academics who support the initiatives of the Society including : Major General Michael Jeffery, the Hon. Justice Michael Kirby, Her Excellency Marjorie Jackson-Nelson, Sir Peter Cosgrove,  Jeff McMullen, Ian Thorpe, IOC Member Susie O’Neill, Sen. Margaret Reid, Mandawuy Yunupingu and former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

Golden Key welcomes around 10,000 new members from Asia Pacific each year and around 55,000 new members from around the world.

 

Since 1993 Golden Key has provided more than AU$2,500,000 in chapter funding to chapters across the region for their service initiatives, networking events, professional development seminars, conferences, new member recognition events, and leadership development programs . Golden Key has awarded more than USD$ 1.5 million in scholarships and awards between 2010 to present. In addition, AU$500,000 has been awarded to individual chapters for scholarships.
