Happy Monday! Here is a good news story from one of our amazing chapters, email your URO if you have a good news story you want to share.

The team at Golden Key Macquarie University DO-NUT believe it - thanks to the generosity of Macquarie University Students (and love of delicious doughnuts), They have raised $1082 to support the amazing work of One Girl!

Over 60 million girls around the world are denied the education they deserve. OneGirl are on a mission to eliminate the barriers that are holding back girls in Uganda and Sierra Leone, two of the worst places in the world to be born a girl.

Every $300 raised can give a girl access to education for a year. We have raised enough money to send three girls back to school for another year.

For every year a girl is educated:

- her income potential increases by 10-20%, 90% of which she will invest back into her family

- her chance of being married as a child to a far older man rapidly decrease

- she is likely to have a smaller, healthier family, with infant mortality decreasing by 5-10%

- she is more than twice as likely to send her own children to school in turn, breaking the cycle of poverty once and for all.

Headquarters would like to say a massive well done to the MQ Team. Keep inspiring others and changing the world for the better with the gift of education.
